Why customers look for ASE-certified technicians

A professional service center should create pathways for their employees to further their education. This will not only bolster the expertise of a shop, but it is also likely to attract new customers and retain old ones. That's why having ASE-certified technicians is crucial for any professional service center.

The National Institute for Automotive Service Excellence tests and certifies technicians across the country. They have helped more than 350,000 technicians receive this certification. With that being said, no matter what type of service center you are running, whether it's dealer operated or an independent repair facility, the work that goes into obtaining this certification is the same. There are more than 40 ASE exams grouped into a number of categories: automobile, medium/heavy truck, truck equipment, school bus, collision repair and more.

When a customer is researching where to have work done on their car, one of the first thing they will look for is ASE-certified technicians. In order for a shop to stand out among the competition, it is critical to have well-equipped technicians, who might have the same exact certification as the expensive dealership down the street.
